In partnership with the Mr Price Group, Smileys has increased its production capacity and established a training centre in collaboration with the MRP Foundation.

 

This training centre aims to provide young adults with the skills required to operate in various processes of shoemaking, from design to finishing. The inaugural intake of 20 students takes place in April of each year, with a focus on locating potential students from disadvantaged backgrounds with the assistance of non-profit organizations in the area.

 

The school's objective is to introduce a new set of skilled workers into the sector, building a new level of sustainability.

 

As an accredited training provider with the FP&M Seta, all students graduate with an NQF 2 qualification in Footwear Processes.

 

Smileys footwear takes immense pride in its learnership programme with the hope that the joint venture between Smileys and the MRP Foundation makes a worthy contribution towards the development of the footwear manufacturing industry in South Africa, as well as in the community we reach.
